What if the recipe could see you?

Glutt is an AI chef that cooks with you. It talks you through the recipe out loud, keeps the timers, answers when your hands are full — and through your phone’s camera or a pair of Meta glasses, it looks at the pan before it answers.

Malik, wearing Meta glasses, turns a beef fillet in a hot pan with tongs. His phone lies on the counter running Glutt.

  1. 01

    “Chef.”

Say her name and the mic opens. Say it again while she’s talking and she stops mid-sentence.

  2. 02

    It knows where you are.

Step 1 of 8. The three-minute timer you asked for. What’s in your pantry — and which pans you own, so she never asks for one you don’t have.

  3. 03

    “Does this look right?”

Point the phone, or just look down with the glasses on. She checks the frame before she answers.

  4. 04

    One thing at a time.

What’s right before what’s wrong. If she can’t see clearly, she asks instead of guessing. If something’s dangerous, she stops you.

What it’s made of

01Voice
Realtime and interruptible. The mic stays closed until you say “Chef.”
02Vision
Frames from the phone camera or Meta glasses, checked before any answer that depends on them.
03Glasses
Meta smart glasses as camera and mic: pairing, streaming over Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi, and App Store rules for shipping it.
04Native iOS
SwiftUI, local-first. Recipes, pantry and progress live on the phone.
05Context
The current step, running timers, your pantry, your tools, your allergies — held for the whole cook.
06Business
On the App Store. Subscription only; there is no free tier.

The app, as it ships

  • Glutt recipes tab: 55 saved recipes and a creamy chicken tikka masala ready to cook tonight
Recipes, pulled in from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or a screenshot.
  • Beef Wellington recipe page with nutrition estimates and a Cook with Chef button
Every recipe ends in one button: Cook with Chef.
  • Dark cook mode on step one, Sear Beef Fillet, with the prompt Say Chef if you need anything
Cook mode. “Say ‘Chef’ if you need anything.”
  • Skills tab with a toggle between Meta glasses and Photos
Skills: Chef watches through the glasses, or checks photos.
  • A knife-skills lesson offering to let Chef watch through your glasses
“Wearing your glasses? Let her watch instead.”
  • Kitchen tools checklist: oven, stovetop, microwave, air fryer checked
The tools you own. She won’t ask for one you don’t have.

In the kitchen

I run the sessions myself.

I bring the ingredients to someone’s kitchen in Miami, they put on the glasses, and they cook their own recipe while Chef talks them through it. Two hours, $109.99.

Then I watch where it breaks, and we fix it before the next one.

Playing the launch video. Same room.
  1. 01Your hands are busy. That is the whole design constraint.
  2. 02Say what’s right before what’s wrong.
  3. 03If the picture doesn’t support an answer, don’t give one.
  4. 04A phone can photograph both sides of a knife; glasses never can. Photo mode is a different lesson, not a worse one.

I like ideas that get more complicated the closer they get to the real world.
